Kinetic rain

The sculpture is fitted above the central escalators and has two main parts. Each even component is composed of 608 drops made of lightweight aluminium covered with copper. The drops are connected by steel wires to a computer-controlled motor that changes their position with precision, to simulate real rain.

Both elements move according to fifteen-minutes, especially created theme, evolving from abstract to figurative three-dimensional forms. Kinetic Rain can be seen from all angles, from above, below and all sides. Kinetic Rain was commissioned by Changi Airport Group Singapore and the installation was manufactured and installed by MKT, Olching.
